Right then. In an effort to make this a group thing, I guess I'll take the first stab.

This is the original post:

I've attempted to translate the first two paragraphs and this is what I got:

I didn’t take the office because of usefulness and cost. The company was based at my house. When I prefer to work outside or when the team needs to meet, we do so in cafes. Being furthermore amateurs of coffee, it has inspired me one or two things.*

Ok, here on this card I will point out the places where I’ve worked and where we’re met:

...

*I didn't get the line "Étant par ailleurs amateur de café, cela m’a inspiré une ou deux choses", so I kind of guessed and now it doesn't make sense. I figure the best way about translating (at least for me) is to get a literal meaning then fix it so that is flows in the target language.

Anyone else want to pick up where I left off?

Your * sounds good for me!
I did the rest of the translation:

Then, at each new place,I'll photograph the café and people working there. By playing (or by game?), I'll ask the same three keywords. Why? Who knows, sometimes GoogleBot starts to index the reality…

So this is what we have so far:

I didn’t take the office because of usefulness and cost. The company was based at my house. When I prefer to work outside or when the team needs to meet, we do so in cafes. Being furthermore amateurs of coffee, it has inspired me one or two things.*

Ok, here on this card I will point out the places where I’ve worked and where we’ve met:

Then, at each new place,I'll photograph the café and people working there. By playing (or by game?), I'll ask the same three keywords. Why? Who knows, sometimes GoogleBot starts to index the reality…

Next step is to look over everything and see if it makes sense in english. I'm sure we can fix it up a bit more.

Hi there, fine job Caroline and Ryan!

Here are my remarks.

"I didn’t take the office"
What I mean aren't renting any offices. At present, the company is headquartered at home and we met in cafés. Do we say "the office" or just (indeterminated) "offices"?

"was based at my house"
Is based : present time.

I find this project funny! Perhaps we should try to use a handier tool for collaborative wok, as Google documents?

Yea, google documents would be a great bet - it could get messy here. But we should still use the forums to aid in keeping tabs on our work in some way. In case anyone else may be interested in joining us.

And thanks for the corrections.

Hi, I've set up a Google document and I've shared it with you Ryan. Caroline, if you want me to do so, feel free to drop me your e-mail.

To follow your piece of advice, Ryan, we could perhaps create a new post on the forum for each new "translation project" and to the Google document.

NB : I won't be available from this afternoon to sunday evening.

Yup, I've seen the email and am about to confirm it.

I also like the idea of making a new post here and to google. More back-ups and we allow others an in on the action.

Lastly, no problem about you being away. I'll see what I can do within that time. Hopefully we can get another post translated.

Hi,

I've put online your translation, Caroline and Ryan: check this out! There also an old one made by a French friend : perhaps you could tell me what you think.

This is nice. Though, we should still work on it a bit...

Also, this weekend I'll take a stab at translating another post. I just got back to school and all, so I'm still getting myself adjusted.
